Turnaround for Children

Turnaround for Children works to fulfill the promise of public education by supporting the development of highly effective public schools. The Turnaround intervention emphasizes the importance of a whole school approach, where every adult in the school is prepared with the skills and tools needed to effect academic and behavioral improvement. Turnaround currently works with schools in New York, New Jersey and Washington, DC.

Stand for Children

Stand for Children is an innovative, grassroots child advocacy organization that aims to use the power of grassroots action to help all children get the excellent public education and strong support they need to thrive. They build effective local and statewide networks of grassroots advocates capable of convincing elected officials to invest in and reform children’s programs. They focus on securing adequate funding for public schools and reforming education policies and practices to help children thrive academically, giving them the opportunities they need to become successful, productive citizens.

Teach for America

Having a great teacher in every classroom is the single most important factor in student achievement. The Show Me Campaign is honored to work with Teach for America. Teach for America aims to end education inequality by placing many of the nation’s top college graduates in some of the lowest-income schools.

Millennium Villages

The Millennium Villages project fights poverty at the village level through community-led development. Using simple solutions throughout rural Africa, the project is proving that the Millennium Development Goals can be achieved and extreme poverty can be defeated.

Millennium Campus Network

The Millennium Campus Network (MCN) is a national network of university student organizations working to reduce global poverty. The MCN provides networking, funding, and national campaign opportunities to member organizations across the United States, and counts John Legend, Founder of the Show Me Campaign, Dr. Jeffrey Sachs, and Dr. Paul Farmer among its Board of Advisors.

Harlem Village Academies

The Harlem Village Academies are New York City charter schools that believe great teachers are critically important to student success. Called a “model of excellence” by New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg, Harlem Village Academies are schools where expectations for kids are high, teachers are engaged, and kids who would otherwise attend neighboring dropout factories achieve success.

Green Dot Schools

Launched in Los Angeles, Green Dot schools are proving that urban high schools can achieve excellence regardless of challenging neighborhood locations or student backgrounds. Using the Green Dot “Six Tenents of High Performing Schools” model, they demonstrate an important standard for public education.

Education Equality Project (EEP)

The Education Equality Project believes that equity in education is fundamental to achieving social justice in the United States. The organization seeks to close the achievement gap by encouraging and helping local communities learn and advocate for equal education opportunities and bold reform.
